The iPhone is the best-selling smartphone of 2021

According to a report by Slash Gear, Apple is only behind South Korean phone maker Samsung in terms of being the biggest smartphone maker.

However, it turns out that individual sales of Apple smartphones, including its iPhone 12 and the all-new iPhone 13, are still unmatched.

According to the latest data from Search for counterpoint, iPhone 12 is last year’s best-selling smartphone, followed by iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Meanwhile, the latest flagship from the Cupertino tech giant, the iPhone 13 takes third place. On top of that, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 11 got fourth and fifth place respectively.

Samsung Budget device: the best-selling phone?

Although Apple’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series dominated the best-selling smartphones in 2021, two inexpensive mobile devices from Samsung and Xiaomi also made the top 10.

Interestingly, Samsung’s flagship devices, such as the Galaxy S21, as well as its foldable phones, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, are not on the list.

However, the South Korean phone maker broke Apple’s streak in the top 10 best-selling smartphones of 2021 by taking sixth place.

Samsung’s entry-level smartphone, the Galaxy A12 is the 6th best-selling phone of 2021.

According to GSM Arena, the Samsung Galaxy A12 retails for just $149.99 on Amazon. It should be noted that the budget mobile device was launched on December 21, 2020, with up to 128 GB of internal storage and 4 GB of RAM.

The A12 comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery, which supports fast charging up to 15W. Not to mention, it still flaunts a headphone jack, which most flagships have already ditched.

Xiaomi Redmi phones enter the list of bestsellers

In addition to this, two budget smartphones have also entered the list of top 10 bestselling smartphones of 2021.

In fact, the Xiaomi Redmi 9A even outsold the high-end Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max, taking 7th place.

Pricing for the Redmi 9A, which launched in June 2020, starts at $109.49 on Amazon.

On the other hand, the $199 Redmi 9 took the last spot on the list, trailing the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
