What is Apple One? A breakdown of the plans, prices, and services included

What if you get a three-month free trial of Apple TV+ or get six months free of Apple Music through an offer you’ve used? Unfortunately, Apple One will reduce these free trials to the standard one-month period, after which you’ll start paying the price of the Apple One plan you’ve chosen. To note: You no longer get any free trial allowance back if you cancel your Apple One plan.

Apple One Services

What exactly do some of these services offer? Here is an overview:

Apple Music

Apple Music is our second favorite and the audiophile pick in our guide to the best streaming services because the entire library of over 90 million songs is available in lossless format, and you get immersive 3D sound with Dolby-tuned albums. atmosphere. It has a great iPhone app and Siri support, but the Android app is just OK, and we’re not fans of the desktop app. Sharing and curating social playlists doesn’t quite match our favorite service, Spotify, but the gap is closing. If you want to switch from Spotify to Apple Music, you can also take your playlists with you.

AppleTV+

With a focus on quality over quantity, Apple TV+ doesn’t compete with the huge libraries offered by Netflix, Disney+ and Hulu, and it deserves a spot in our guide to the best streaming services. It’s light on the movies, although there are some highlights, like Macbeth’s Tragedy, wolf walkersand Bullfinch. But the real appeal of Apple TV+ is in hit shows like Ted Lasso and The morning show, and it also has great music documentaries. Everything is offered in 4K with HDR, and no, you don’t need an Apple TV to watch content on Apple TV+.

apple arcade

Almost three years after its release, Apple Arcade’s impact on mobile gaming is still unclear. What is not up for debate is the fact that it offers some of the best mobile games without ads or in-app purchases. There are now over 200 titles, many of which are exclusive. Some of our favorites include Mini-highways, Wild Hearts of Sayonara, Sneaky Sasquatch, Fantasticand Assemble with care.

iCloud

Everyone gets 5GB of storage in iCloud for free, but that quickly fills up with device backups, photos, and videos. You can upgrade to 50GB, 200GB, or 2TB, and each option supports Family Sharing. There are several alternative cloud storage services that work well with Apple devices, but iCloud is tightly integrated. Besides the extra space, another reason to upgrade iCloud is for HomeKit Secure Video. It allows HomeKit security cameras and video doorbells to record 10 days of activity, viewable in the Home app. The 50GB plan supports a single camera, the 200GB plan covers up to five cameras, and the 2TB plan supports unlimited cameras. These HomeKit videos don’t count against your iCloud storage limit.

Apple+ News

If you like reading great magazines like (ahem) WIRED, National geographic, the new yorker, Time, People, vogue, rolling stoneand popular scienceor newspapers like The Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times, you can find them and more, from cover to cover, in the News app with an Apple News+ subscription. The service saves you from paywalls, offers a polished presentation and offers curation according to your interests. However, it does not include everything—The New York Times and The Washington Post are notoriously unavailable. It also only works on Apple devices.

Apple Fitness+

Workout subscription services became popular at the start of the pandemic because people could no longer get to the gym. Apple Fitness+ offers different types of workouts, from yoga to strength training, audio-guided walks and runs, meditations, and plenty of real-time metrics. It works through the Fitness app on an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, and requires an Apple Watch Series 3 or later. You can read more about it in our review, but it has since expanded. (Apple adds about 30 new workouts and meditations each week.)
